washing and care instructions

Our customised velour is a knitted, poly based fabric. It is incredibly stretchy and soft, with a shiny surface.

It is a medium-weight fabric, however, it retains heat extremely well due to the soft pile. The surface absorbs and reflects light which gives it a beautiful shimmer. Printing on velour produces a wonderful personalised fabric which offers super bright and rich colours, showcased with a shimmering ripple and shine.

What is Velour Fabric?

Velour is a plush fabric that can be woven or knitted. It is used frequently as dancewear as it's stretch allows for great range of movement. It is a very warm fabric, which keeps heat in well. It is similar to velvet in texture, with a soft pile and rich appearance. It is often used for items such as the big red stage curtains you get at theatres, as well as for clothing and upholstery. Velour is a very versatile fabric. The original velour was a thick woven fabric made from wool. It had a nap on the face side which was soft and dense and was traditionally used for overcoats. The name, originally from the Latin word, 'villosus', actually means hairy, however, it is also the French term for velvet.

Make a Collage

If you can’t decide on which photo to use, you can upload multiple images and create a photo collage. This can be done using one of our pre-set montage templates, or you can create your own entirely from scratch. It’s super easy to do and the possibilities are endless.

How to add your collage to your product

Step 1 – Click the start design button & select your product options.

Step 2 – Go to the ‘Images & Text Tools’ tab, click the ‘add images/Text’ button on your product & ‘Select Images to Upload’ or use the Facebook/Instagram tabs.

Step 3 – Choose the images you want to use for your collage, upload & select them from the uploaded photos list.

Step 4 – Click ‘Create montage’ & select your collage style.

Step 5 – Add the collage to your design.

Hints and Tips

  • The more images you add to your collage the smaller each image will be. Fewer images will be larger and give you more clarity and detail.
  • The more people in an image, the less detail there will be. If you have 10 images of a group of five friends, each person will be smaller than if you have 10 images of just one person.
  • Try to make sure that the longest side of each image is around 10 centimetres. There is a handy ruler built into the design tool to help you with this.
  • Smaller products will not be able to fit as many images as larger ones will.

Personalised by you

Using the online design tool, you can upload your photos and images, and even add text to your custom printed velour. We permanently bond your design to the fabric, using permanent, eco-friendly inks to make your customised velour. You can select your own bespoke sizes for your customised velour, and you can even use our online tool to choose how you would like the edging of your custom printed velour.

You can either have the print on velour fabric sent to you straight as it comes from the printer. This will have a border around the edge of your print. If you would rather not have the border, you can opt to have your customised velour cut on the line. One of our experts will cut around the edge of your print, removing any excess fabric.

If you'd prefer you can choose to have your custom printed velour hemmed. You can select a black or white thread, and the fabric will be stitched with an overlocked hem by one of our expert seamstresses before it is sent out to you. Remember if you intend to use this option to allow extra fabric for hemming in your custom measurements.
