How Your Custom Door Curtains Work

All of our custom door curtains are made to measure, so you can use them for single doors, bit double doors, or even those french patio doors that are an awkward size, sometimes three or four curtains wide - or more frustratingly two and a half curtains wide. Styling your curtains is made simple using the online design tool, where you can customise not only your curtain design but also your hanging style, lining type and how many curtains you want.

Step 1: Measure the area
Measure the area you want your door curtain to cover. This may not just be the door, but could include the door frame or might sit above the door dependant on how high your curtain rail is. Once you have these measurements you will need to add extra to it, dependant on your chosen curtain style. This is so that you don't end up with your curtain looking like one big flat piece of fabric across your door. You need to take into consideration any pleats or ruffles you want. The average eyelet door curtain is around 1.8x the area that you're trying to cover, and with tape headings, it's usually about 2x. If your door curtains are replacements for a well-fitting set, you could measure the curtains themselves rather than the area. Due to curtain fabric shrinkage being anything between 2% and 6%, we would suggest adding an extra centimetre all the way around your curtains, that way you can future proof them and have them still looking as beautiful in years to come.

Step 2: Select your options
Within the design tool, you can choose more than just the design of your curtains. Select the hanging style you would like from four different options and decide whether you want one large curtain (anything up to 40m x 40m) or if you'd prefer the traditional pair of curtains. Eyelet curtains come with the option of two different sized eyelets in two different colours.

Next, pick from four different lining options. The front of the curtain is made from Suede Vision textile. You can opt to add no lining to this or choose from one layer of our high-quality ivory lining, one layer of our blackout lining which is dense weave and cream, or an interlined curtain. Interlined has three layers, the Suede Vision curtain, a mid layer of quality wadding and then for the final layer it uses the ivory lining.

Step 3: Create your design
Now all that's left to do is to make your own custom design. For your photo door curtains online, upload photos and either make use of our collage templates or create your own montage. You can use one large photo split down the middle with half on each curtain. You could use one photo for the left curtain and a different one for the right. You could use the same image on either side. You can add text or use our design tool to add in extra photos or patterns. You can even create your own graphic design. These curtains are yours for you to make as unique and personal as you'd like; the opportunities are endless.

What my Custom Door Curtains Will Look Like

Depending on your chosen style you'll either have an ivory backing or a white blackout backing. The soft, faux suede material has a matte finish is non-fraying and is smooth in every direction. Suede Vision fabric has little to no creasing and as there is no elasticity in this textile you won't find your printed design becoming distorted over time.

The Suede Vision fabric has a water-repellent quality so it's perfect for a multitude of uses. Our Suede Vision fabric is extremely strong and has undergone the Martindale test with fantastic results. This test rubs against the material in a circular motion using an abrasive fabric until there is fibre damage or a noticeable change. The great result of this vigorous testing means that this material has the durability for daily use, in a high traffic area such as a doorway.

Make a Collage

If you can’t decide on which photo to use, you can upload multiple images and create a photo collage. This can be done using one of our pre-set montage templates, or you can create your own entirely from scratch. It’s super easy to do and the possibilities are endless.

How to add your collage to your product

Step 1 – Click the start design button & select your product options.

Step 2 – Go to the ‘Images & Text Tools’ tab, click the ‘add images/Text’ button on your product & ‘Select Images to Upload’ or use the Facebook/Instagram tabs.

Step 3 – Choose the images you want to use for your collage, upload & select them from the uploaded photos list.

Step 4 – Click ‘Create montage’ & select your collage style.

Step 5 – Add the collage to your design.

Hints and Tips

  • The more images you add to your collage the smaller each image will be. Fewer images will be larger and give you more clarity and detail.
  • The more people in an image, the less detail there will be. If you have 10 images of a group of five friends, each person will be smaller than if you have 10 images of just one person.
  • Try to make sure that the longest side of each image is around 10 centimetres. There is a handy ruler built into the design tool to help you with this.
  • Smaller products will not be able to fit as many images as larger ones will.

Made to measure

Your custom door curtains are handmade to order and will display your design proudly on the front.  Your full-colour print will be vivid with crisp edges, due to the state of the art digital printing technique that our trained technicians use. This penetrates the eco-friendly inks deep into the fibres, to create a high-quality print.

Craftsmen will then cut your personalised curtains to order to the bespoke measurements that you gave us when you placed your order before our expert seamstresses hem your curtains and everything is quality checked and shipped to you.

Get them just right

With so many customisable features, you can choose exactly how your custom door curtains will look. We love the idea of using this as the doorway to your little one's room, for when you want privacy and to muffle the hustle and bustle from the rest of the house, but would rather not shut the door so that you can hear if baby wakes up in the night. You could use your favourite family moments, or create a design of your little cherub's favourite characters from all of those bedtime stories.

These personalised curtains to order are not just ideal for home use but can be used in so many other places as well. From grand theatre stages to hiding those unsightly mop buckets at work, these door curtains have so many practical applications.

Eyelet curtains

When ordering eyelet curtains please bear in mind the space required at the top of the curtain which will be taken up with the eyelets. This is approximately 12 cm at the top of your design. For patterned designs you may wish to fill this completely, however, if you are adding text or photos to your custom door curtains please ensure that you don't place any important details of your design within this area. eyelet design tips
