Clairyfairy Fabrics in the Orkneys

My name is Claire Lydia Ray [aka 'clairyfairy']. I think I was born a colour lover. When everyone else was comfortable with neutrals I always loved black or navy with bright and light colours. My store page is aimed at those who love colour like me and as a 60s child the vintage patterns of the mid century to the 1970s which you will find in collections of globally inspired colours. These are so on trend and never go away, they have become a classic. I have been designing digital colour palettes and pattern thumbnails since 2008 and have developed many cultural collections from African Farmhouse to Waterways Barge. I love crochet and often design pieces to coordinate with my fabric patterns. I lived in the Outer Hebrides on the Isle of Lewis for 3 years where I was inspired by the moors, the abandoned blackhouses, the mountains but particularly the aqua jewelled seas and white beaches. 'Harris Tweed' has also become a bit of an obsession and an odd cushion will pop in any of my collections. I now live in the Orkney Islands where the grass is verdant green and the verges full of wild flowers.  Orkney Tweed is woven from the islands sheep and in the varying shades of the wool fleece. 'clairyfairy' inspires a lifestyle choice. Each piece has a story and generally matches up to an individual's seasonal colour palette whether you are a Deep Autumn or a Light Spring. You can surround yourself in 'theclairyfairy' or it will complement what you already have. I am so pleased to be here and bring you my eclectic, flamboyant personality in colour.
