Just For Fun

When In Doubt, Take Mum Out…(for a slap up meal that is)

OK, so cooking isn’t your thing. You’re no Jamie Oliver and you admit it. We totally understanding (trust me, some of the Bags of Love team can’t even make toast without causing the fire alarm to go off.) If you don’t fancy giving one of our favourite recipes from yesterday’s post a go, no problem! For those who would rather take mum out for a slap up meal, we have created a list of some of our favourite places to dine in and around London – perfect for treating mum. So make yourself a cup of tea and have a gander at these lovely eateries.

You can’t beat a classic British tea and what could be a nicer treat for mum than an amazing tea in central London? Our personal favourite though has to be The Mad Hatter’s Tea at the Sanderson Hotel. From a kooky choice of teas, a Victoria jelly service and the most imaginative cakes and sandwiches possible, this tea party will get a definite thumbs up from mum for sure! Next up is something for the more adventurous mum. A fab little secret in Crouch End, North London; Banners! This little place looks intriguing from the outside, with its colourful and slight mish mash appearance, and inside the intrigue grows – mismatched furniture, a fun bar, random paraphernalia on the walls and a specials board to die for! From jerk chicken, goat curry, calamari, classic burgers, all day breakfasts and the yummiest banoffee pie ever to a great cocktail and drinks list, this fun spot in North London has something for everyone. Book here.

Located in one of London’s most stunning parks and fashionable areas, Holland Park, The Belvedere dates back to the 17th century, where it was once a stunning ballroom of Holland House. This is a fancy one; amazing interior, picturesque, grand, perfect for mum! Take her for their traditional 3 course Sunday lunch and indulge her and when lunch is over, walk it off with a stroll in the park. Click here to find out more.

For a fun and causal lunch, one of our favourite spots is Bill’s Café. Originally from Brighton, Bill’s has now opened up with a number of venues in London and the surrounding areas. Our favourite Bill’s are the ones in St Albans, Hertfordshire and Covent Garden, Central London. With yummy treats like mac and cheese, fish pie and fish finger sandwiches on the menu, this is a great place to spend a relaxed afternoon treating mum to some delish food. Find your nearest Bill’s here.

Our final pick for Mother’s Day is set in one of the prettiest high streets in London – Primrose Hill. Limonia is a great choice for Mother’s Day. With an extensive and delicious Greek menu, a fun, bustling atmosphere and friendly, attentive service, this Greek hot spot set a minutes’ walk from Primrose Hill is sure to get you in mum’s good books. Make sure you get the baklava! Check out their site here.

We hope you’ve managed to find some inspiration there and don’t forget to let us know in the comments below what you choose to do on Mother’s Day.
